We follow the National Curriculum throughout Key Stage 2, tailored to the needs of our children and built on the strong foundations laid in the Infant School. Our curriculum develops deep knowledge, strong skills and a genuine love of learning, while preparing every child academically, socially and emotionally for secondary school.

Reading at the Heart
Reading underpins everything we do. Through daily guided reading, whole-class novels and our VIPERS comprehension approach, we develop fluent, thoughtful readers with a genuine love of books.
Enrichment & Wider Learning
We actively support the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of every pupil through our values-based approach to PSHE and wider curriculum.

What curriculum do you follow?
We follow the National Curriculum throughout Key Stage 2, tailored to the needs of our children and carefully sequenced to build knowledge and skills year on year.
How do you teach reading and writing?
Reading is taught daily through guided reading, whole-class novels and our VIPERS comprehension approach. Writing is taught through carefully chosen texts that model the styles and techniques we want our children to develop — covering everything from stories and poetry to reports, letters and persuasive writing.
How do you prepare children for SATs and secondary school?
Our entire KS2 curriculum is designed to prepare children for the next stage of their education. By Year 6, children are well prepared for end-of-key-stage assessments and have the academic, social and emotional skills they need for a confident transition to secondary school. We work closely with local secondary schools to make sure this move is as smooth as possible.
How do you support children who need extra help?
We assess children regularly and provide targeted support and intervention wherever it is needed, so no child is left behind. Our SEND provision is recognised as a real strength of the school, and our Boldmere Resource Base offers specialist support for children with additional needs.
